THE LIMA HALF-MILE
Lima is one of the longest running and most highly attended races in AMA Pro Flat Track, the world’s most prestigious flat track motorcycle racing series. The Lima Half-Mile, which has been running continuously since 1984, will take place on June 28, 2025 at the Allen County Fairgrounds in Lima, Ohio. The race always runs on the last Saturday in June and attracts a huge crowd of 7,000+ spectators. The atmosphere at the race is like no other on the circuit, as fans not only pack the huge grandstands which span the entire front straightaway, but also surround the fence on the outside of the track. Lima features some of the best racing on the AMA Pro Flat Track circuit, as the pea gravel surface and 85 foot wide corners allow for exciting, multi-line racing at high speeds.

AMA PRO RACING
Flat track racing has been around for nearly 100 years and is considered to be America’s original extreme sport. AMA Pro Flat Track is the world’s leading flat track motorcycle racing series. The series champion is considered to be the #1 flat track racer in the world.

The premier Super Twins class is for the top racers who have earned the right to ride the class. On Half-Mile tracks like Lima, they race on big twins, including custom Indian FTR750 machines along with Harley, Suzuki, Ducati, Yamaha, Kawasaki and KTM twins. Bikes only have rear brakes, which adds to the excitement. The Singles class is geared toward young racers who are honing their skills en route to the Super Twins ranks. These up-and- coming competitors race production-based 450cc motorcycles produced by brands such as Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Suzuki and Yamaha. American Flattrack has also added a Production Twins class as a stepping stone before hitting the Super Twins class. This allows riders to get used to the twin cylinder motorcycle.

The Super Twins, Singles, and Production Twin classes run at all events including the Lima Half-Mile, providing an abundance of racing for fans to enjoy. One advantage flat track racing has over most other forms of motorsports is that fans are able to see the entire racetrack at all times, never missing an exciting moment or lead change. Also, unlike most other motorsports, fans are able to get up-close with the stars of the sport during open pits, which take place before racing begins. Fans can stroll through the pits, watch teams work on their motorcycles, get autographs, take photos, and talk with the stars of the series. Of the 18 races on the 2022 AMA Pro Flat Track schedule, Lima is one of the most iconic, highly attended and talked about. Winning the historic Lima Half-Mile is a career goal of all the top racers in the series.
